# Create Camera Sessions from Data

Camera sessions, particularly data recorded using **PhaseOne**, **Ladybug**, and **Mosaic** cameras, can be created from raw data. This is necessary as the raw data is stored externally from the rover storage, so the PLP does not initially contain links to the imagery. The following cameras typically store to external storage:

| Camera | Raw Data File Type | Special Considerations |
| --------------------------------------------- | ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **PhaseOne IXM-100**, **GS-120**, **RS-100F** | .IIQ | Images can be converted to JPEG using IXCapture, but camera session should always be created using IIQ files. |
| **Ladybug5+** and **Ladybug6** | .PGR | PGR stream files may be split for file storage purposes |
| **Mosaic51** and **MosaicX** | .MP4 | One MP4 file per-receptor. Three additional metadata files are also needed for calibration and timing. |

The user needs to specify the **Camera Model**, **Sensor Index** (typically 0 or 1), and the location of the data. You can determine the sensor index by looking at the camera name in the project window. Shown below, *CAM1* indicates a **Sensor Index** of **1**.

With most external cameras, recorded images are timestamped by the camera, so **Timing Source** should typically be set to **Parse from images**. **Snapping to navigation system timestamps** is typically acceptable, and this field can be left as 10 msecs.

## Ladybug5+ and Ladybug6

With Ladybug cameras, use the **Data** field in the **Camera Session Import** menu to point the software to the folder containing the **PGR** files.

## Mosaic51 and MosaicX

With Mosaic cameras, use the **Data** field in the **Camera Session Import** menu to point the software to the folder containing the **MP4** files.

Ensure that the camera metadata files for calibration, info, and timing are also present in the directory containing the MP4 files:

## PhaseOne Cameras

Use the **Data** field to point the software to the folder containing the **IIQ** imagery. Always create the camera session using the IIQ files, as these images contain precise time stamp information, while JPEGs created by IXCapture may not.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.phoenixlidar.com/spatialexplorer-8-and-9/user-interface/toolbars/tools/camera/create-camera-sessions-from-data.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
