# Sony A7R4-Lite SD card folder setup procedure

Formatting SD card(s) directly from the A7R4-Lite is not possible because there is no exposed display or buttons to complete the process. We recommend verifying or preparing your SD card(s) before using them in the field.<br>

{% hint style="info" %}
The Sony A7R4-Lite can use up to two 1TB cards simultaneously, so you must prepare both if you plan on using the 2 available slots in the camera. We recommend using SD cards that are V90 and UHS 3 rated.
{% endhint %}

## Formatting Procedure

1. Using Microsoft Windows, format the SD card on your PC to the exFAT filesystem:

![](/files/pKwzA0L7ZUl74DQpAAFN)

2. Download the zip file at <https://storage.phoenixlidar.com/temp/20230616_A7R4-Lite_1.0.zip>
3. Extract the contents of the zip file to your desktop. The folder should be named “20230616\_A7R4-Lite\_1.0” and have the following folders and files:

4. Copy these contents of the “20230616\_A7R4-Lite\_1.0” folder on your desktop to the root folder of your newly formatted SD card.
5. Eject the SD card from your PC. Repeat this process for all SD cards that you plan on using with the A7R4-Lite camera.&#x20;

## After Acquisition

Due to the self-checking feature of the A7R4-Lite, the first image of a dataset should be removed before the data is uploaded, in order for the image events to line up.
