Aircraft/Rover Operational Safety

Do not operate the aircraft without an experienced and/or licensed operator present.

There must always be an experienced and/or licensed aircraft/system operator.

Always complete a pre and post mission inspection.

Never approach or handle the aircraft without permission.

Always operate the aircraft with a minimum of two spotters.

Remove all obstructions or loose debris.

Remove all obstructions or loose debris (Foreign Object Debris a.k.a FOD) from the operational safety zone and surrounding areas.

Survey the area for possible operational risks.

Spotters must maintain a visual Line-of-Sight (LoS) on the aircraft and/or its operator.

Ask for permission if attempting to recover aircraft.

Never operate or attempt to recover the rover in/on/under/over or near any areas without first obtaining permission and risk analysis from the proper authorities/owners.

Establish a signaling protocol for communication

Establish an agreed upon signaling protocol (verbal/nonverbal) between team members to communicate status and the safety of personnel, equipment, and other potential risks.

Always understand the risks and dangers of storing, charging, transporting, and the improper usage of large Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries.
