# Recording Data

Before continuing with this section, please make sure you followed the steps in the previous section [Preparing the System](https://docs.phoenixlidar.com/hardware-and-interfaces/navbox/scout/preparing-the-system).

After power has been supplied to the unit and the boot process is complete, data recording can be started. To do so, our Phoenix LiDAR **Spatial Explorer** software can be used to connect to the NavBox to start the data recording or to adjust any mapping parameters. Real-time data acquisition is also possible by connecting via Spatial Explorer.
