# Change Active Hours

Windows 10 has a feature called Active Hours which allows users to specify the hours they’re more likely to use the computer to prevent Windows Update from restarting the system automatically. Enabling this option will prevent your computer from automatically restarting while scanning in the field.

1\. Open the Windows Updates & Security Settings app by selecting Start → Settings → Update & security.

2\. Click the “Change active hours” option and specify the time you’ll be actively using your computer. The maximum active length of time you can set is 12 hours. Any other time range will be marked as invalid. We recommend setting the active hours to match the times you’ll spend scanning in the field.

3\. When you are finished entering the desired Start and End times, click the “Save” button.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.phoenixlidar.com/hardware-and-interfaces/connecting-and-interfacing-with-phoenix-lidar-systems/iface_se/base-station-notebook-setup/configure-windows/change-active-hours.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
